Today my friend Jinni and I went to the cinema. We watched an excellent movie which was called Les Misérables. The auditorium was full due to the fact that the tickets were cheap. It was a long and sad story, but I really liked it! It was kind of girly movie where you want to cry.
Basically, it is a French historical novel by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862. It is considered one of the greatest novels of the nineteenth century.
Plot.
It was the beginning of the nineteenth century. France was on the eve of a revolution.
Ex-convict Jean Valjean was an outcast who was angry at humanity after his 19-year sentence. He met a Catholic bishop who changed his life. The bishop, of course, treated him as a person who deserved respect. When Valjean stole his silverware and candlesticks, the bishop forgave him and did not report him to the authorities. He was the first the man who was kind to him. Valjean was so shocked that he abruptly changed his life. Under a false name, Jean Valjean founded a factory that made small articles from black glass.
After making a mistake, Jean Valjean became wanted by French police which forced him into hiding. Parisian police inspector Javert spent his whole life trying to catch Valjean.
One day, Jean Valjean met a woman. Her name was Fantine. He believed he was responsible for her fate after her death. The only person that was close to him was her daughter Cosette. Jean Valjean was ready for anything for the happiness of girl.
