Auto show

Yesterday my husband and I went to the Canadian International AutoShow. It was in Metro Toronto Convection Centre. There was a huge exhibition over 600,000 square feet. I have never seen before such a big exhibition. There were a lot of people, who wanted to get inside new and expensive cars. Also, a saw exclusive cars like Ferrari and Maserati. I met a lot of Russian people on AutoShow. We took some pictures with nice cars. I liked my trip to AutoShow. I liked Mercedes and Audi the most. I was disappointed with Infiniti, Lexus and BMW because of inelegant interior. I expected more from those cars.

My unsuccessful Writing test.

Today is February 14, Valentin's day. It is day of love. Before JSW we had writing test in my class on level 4-5. I'm not sure that I did it well. I wold like to improve my English. And I am afraid I didn't do that. It looked like kindergarten writing. I am disappointed with myself. Today is Valentine's Day and my heart is broken. Anyway, I learn English by myself and don't lose a hope. Every day I go forward and aspire do it well. Maybe today is not my happy day to show my English skills.

My first step to employment

I am going to tell you about Job Search Workshop. It is a Microskills program. Now, 2 of my classmates and I come to Job Search Workshop. We began on Tuesday and we are going to finish on Friday. We study between 10 am and 1 pm. Before I came to Workshop, I prepared my resume at home. My husband helped me to write resume. My class consists of approximately 15 people. All of them have previous job experience but I don't. Today we listened to 10 min presentation about Microskills services. And now I know that Employment Ontario helps Ontarians:
- Get the skills to succeed
- Find a job
- Start a business.
Also, we shared one of our successes at work or our top 3-5 skills (from our document “My Success at Work"). Next question was “Who hires employees?". Now I know it might be companies, government, and non-profit organizations. After that we studied a “Understanding Job Posting". We worked in groups of 3 - 4 people. We reviewed the job postings together. We had 5 examples. After quickly review our job postings, we fill out the information on the form "Understanding Job Posting". In the end we talked about small and big companies and differences between them. I shared a couple of my ideas. Today was better that yesterday.

Canadian Income Tax Calculator.

I'd like to live in Nunavit, Canada for the next few years because of the lower taxes.
For example, if my Taxable Income will be $70,000, the Average Tax Rate will be 19,75% and the Marginal Tax Rate will be 29%. After income tax, I will have $56,176. If I will live in Toronto, then the Average Tax Rate will be 21,83% and the Marginal Tax Rate will be 32,98%. It means that after tax my income will be $ 54,718.

Canadian Taxation System. Quiz.

Modern diseases

Cancer
Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide and deaths are projected to continue rising, with an estimated 12 million in 2030. The claim by the World Health Organization is that only 30% of cancer deaths can be prevented.
Cardiovascular disease
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the second biggest killer worldwide. Heart attacks and strokes make up the largest portion of CVD deaths and they are largely preventable.
Diabetes
Researchers have spend years looking for genes that cause diabetes, but there is increasing evidence that diabetes is really caused by viral infections. In particular type 1 diabetes was assumed to be genetic, but there is a fairly large amount of evidence that it is caused by viruses which may be linked to vaccines. The incidence of type 1 diabetes is increasing throughout the world, which cannot be explained by genetics.

Weekend

Last weekend we went to our friends' house. We wanted to go to a club but we didn't. We stayed at home. We played different games. It was a lot of fun. The person that lost had to drink a shot. Also we played in charades. It was awesome! I got one charade, it was MilkyWay. I think it was good practice of English, because we talked to each other in English. I like my friends, they are from Europe and understand my situation.
